Whole-wheat Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients:
         2 cups whole-wheat flour
         4 tsp. baking powder
         ½ tsp. salt
         ½ tsp. garlic powder
         4 tbsp. cold butter
         3/4 cup grated cheese
         1 cup milk

Directions:

1.    Preheat oven to 450º.
2.    Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and garlic powder in a large bowl.
3.    Cut in butter with a pastry cutter, or a fork if you don’t have one.
4.    Stir in cheese.
5.    Pour in milk and mix until just incorporated. Do not over mix or you will end up with hard biscuits.
6.    Turn out onto floured surface; knead dough with hands.
7.    Flatten dough to about ¾ inch thick with your hands.
8.    Use a cookie cutter, biscuit cutter, or upside down glass to cut out desired biscuit size.

9.    Place on cookie sheet, bake for 10-15 minutes. Biscuits will be lightly browned.
